FAQs

What is Executive Coaching and how does it differ from mentoring and training?

Coaching is best understood as a partnership between the coach and the client. Unlike mentorship or training, which typically involve a teacher-learner relationship for an exchange of information, coaches help clients explore ideas, develop their talents and gain insights that can transcend disciplines or individual problems. If a mentor tells you how to solve a problem, a coach helps you to develop your problem-solving skills so that you can solve problems on your own! My personal style of coaching often includes some aspects of mentoring and training, but my focus is always on listening to my client and working towards their success.

What types of services do you offer?

I offer 1:1 personalized coaching and team coaching as well as customized workshops/trainings for groups from 10 -100. I accept ‘direct pay’ clients as well as ‘sponsored’ engagements from companies who wish to support their teams’ professional development.

What can I expect as far as length and number of sessions?

An ideal 1:1 coaching engagement lasts anywhere from six months to a year or more depending on the client’s goals. It can take time to build rapport and develop skills in order to see results so coaching is not a “one-and-done” activity. A typical coaching session is 50 minutes and can be in-person or remote, weekly/bi-weekly or even monthly. I customize all of my coaching engagements to suit the client and offer a number of ‘packages’ for Sponsored coaching where you can specify the number of clients or team members and the frequency of the sessions. All information shared during a coaching session is kept confidential.

What is the price range for services?

I do not offer ‘hourly’ rates, but prefer to create a customized package suited to each client that encourages a commitment to the process and reflects the value of the outcome. With a three-month initial engagement, a direct-pay client might expect to pay $1,000/month for coaching that includes an initial consultation, weekly sessions and a personalized assessment tool. Sponsored client packages can be customized for the number of clients, frequency of sessions and duration of the engagement. For example, a company might want to engage 1:1 coaching for leaders or team coaching.  For a flat fee of $30,000 I could create a six-month package that includes initial consultation, 1:1 coaching for up to six individuals (and/or team coaching), along with assessment instruments, outcome measures, mid-cycle check in and customized workshops.

What type of clients do you take?

Executive Coaching includes those in the C-Suite of course, but also middle-management leaders, directors and their teams. My skills and experience have prepared me to be an effective coach across a variety of industries from higher education and healthcare to non-profits and small businesses.

How is the practice of Executive Coaching regulated or licensed?

Currently there is no regulation or licensure requirements for Executive Coaching, which makes it all the more important to seek out coaches with experience and credentials. I adhere to the International Coaching Federation (ICF), which sets guidelines for training and education as well as clear ethical standards and practice. I earned my Certified Executive Coach credential from the Center for Executive Coaching (CEC), which is an ICF recognized organization.

What kind of return on investment (ROI) can I expect?

In 2023 Forbes Magazine called Executive Coaching a proven way to increase productivity and performance across all types of companies,“…coaching produced over a 5:1 return without including the financial benefits of employee retention. When considering that critical factor, the ROI jumps to nearly 8:1 or 788%”.
